The Mieres Campus Sports Centre is the University of Oviedo sports hub on Gonzalo Gutierrez Quiros street in Barredo, Mieres, Asturias. Built in 2011 for the Polytechnic School campus, it combines a large indoor sports hall with outdoor padel, tennis and seven-a-side football surrounded by a running loop. Four padel courts sit alongside two tennis courts and an artificial-turf football pitch, while inside there is a full multi-use court, gym, sauna and multi-purpose rooms. The Servicio de Deportes runs university padel championships and lets students and staff book courts through the online sports portal.

Facilities

Primarily for University of Oviedo students, staff and sports-card holders. Book padel courts up to one week ahead via the Servicio Virtual de Deportes with Uniovi login credentials. Contact deportesmieres@uniovi.es or +34 985 458 190.

I went to a rhythmic gymnastics tournament this weekend, and the arena itself is quite nice. It looks new and well-maintained, but the seats in the stands are incredibly uncomfortable, and it was terribly hot. There's no ventilation at all, or at least it wasn't noticeable.

The heat inside isn't normal for mid-October. I'd say it's even dangerous for practicing sports there. There's no ventilation other than a small door that sometimes opens at the back. The roof design and materials don't seem very efficient at insulating against outside temperatures, not to mention the chemical smell emanating throughout the pavilion, which must be due to the type of paint or some other material used. Of course, if someone were to measure the air quality there, I think they'd close it down.

The place seems normal. Everything is cleaned up, everything is beautiful. A little variety is enough, like in some kind of bar?

Small facility, part of the Mieres University Campus. Well maintained. Sufficient for its purpose.
