Instal·lació Esportiva Municipal Esplai is a public racket-sports venue in Castelldefels, in Barcelona’s coastal metropolitan belt, within the Zona Universitària area beside the Olympic Canal. It is managed by the Ajuntament’s Secció Municipal d’Esports and presented on the Castelldefels Fem Esport portal as one of the city’s municipal sports installations rather than a private club. The complex is built around outdoor racket and multi-sport play: three padel courts, three tennis courts (two on artificial grass), four fronton walls, a beach-volleyball court, and a free-use outdoor zone. For players searching municipal padel in Castelldefels or the Baix Llobregat shoreline, Esplai remains a local public option while the city also expands newer court projects elsewhere. Expect open-air, coastal-humid conditions typical of this seaside municipality.
Facilities
Court hire and sports enquiries for Esplai sit under Castelldefels Fem Esport, the municipal sports brand. Online reservations for Castelldefels municipal racket courts run through the city’s DeporSite booking system, reachable from castelldefelsfemesport.com and ajcastelldefels.deporsite.net, where registered users can check availability and pay for sessions. City-wide municipal padel booking practice typically requires the reservation holder to be one of the players, caps weekly bookings per user, takes payment immediately, and allows only limited schedule changes—always confirm Esplai-specific slots and public prices inside the official app before you play. Seasonal abonos promoted on Fem Esport mainly cover CEM Can Roca fitness and pool access rather than a dedicated Esplai club membership, so casual or registered pay-as-you-go court rental is the practical route here. For courses, group hire, or clarifications, use the Secció d’Esports contact channels on the Fem Esport website.

It's a disgrace that the city council is trying to charge for using facilities that are completely abandoned.
How is it possible they can charge 27 euros for an hour and a half of tennis in a semi-abandoned facility? If it were a private club, I wouldn't say anything, but in a public facility whose main purpose is to promote sports and healthy habits among the population... it's shameful! Congratulations to the municipal managers. We residents will continue to travel to other municipalities with quality, affordable facilities that truly value public services.
Quite run-down, although the new padel courts are very nice. The price is high for the service offered, especially considering that other nearby facilities are more comprehensive and cheaper. The changing rooms could be much improved.
Outdoor padel courts (two with walls and one with glass), tennis courts, and beach volleyball courts. Being next to the Olympic Canal, it's usually quite humid.
