Belfast Boat Club is a multi-sport riverside club on Lockview Road in Stranmillis, founded in 1876 on the banks of the River Lagan. Alongside rowing, tennis, squash and a gym, the club added padel in January 2025 with three new courts open to members and non-members. Two courts are covered and one is uncovered outdoors, so you can play through changeable Belfast weather on the canopy pair while still having an open-air option. Playtomic handles padel bookings, while SmartClubCloud covers tennis, squash and other club activities. The setting mixes serious racquet sport with a social clubhouse culture of events, Wimbledon days and towpath visitors.
Facilities
Full club membership brings discounted padel rates and an eight-day booking window on Playtomic; non-members and temporary members can book up to seven days ahead at higher rates. Adult, junior, family, social and off-peak memberships are available via SmartClubCloud, with direct debit options for adults. Tennis, squash and social bookings stay on SmartClubCloud, while padel stays on Playtomic. Non-members have been able to hire padel courts since February 2025 without joining first. Great as always. Now with Padel courts!
Lovely friendly staff…even gave mum a blanket and a cuppa tea while we waited for our uber. Recommend you call in for a drink after walking the towpath route.
