Polideportivo San Amaro is a municipal sports complex on the west side of Burgos, managed by the Ayuntamiento's Servicio Municipalizado de Deportes. It opened in 1980 on about 55,000 m² near the San Amaro sanctuary and the old Hospital del Rey, now part of the University of Burgos campus. Locals still call the whole site San Amaro even after the rugby pitch was renamed Campo Bienvenido Nieto. Alongside elite rugby for Aparejadores Burgos and Pingüinas Rugby Burgos, the complex keeps four padel courts that anyone can book through the city's sports portal. That mix of outdoor and indoor spaces means a padel session can sit next to athletics, swimming, squash, or gym time on the same visit. Under-14s need an adult over 18 with them to enter municipal sports facilities.
Facilities
Burgos offers an Abono Deportivo, an annual municipal pass paid by bank direct debit. For ages 23–64 the fee is about €90.10 if you are empadronado in Burgos and €99.10 if not, with cheaper bands for children, young adults, pensioners, and people with a disability of 65% or more. Large families and multi-member households get further reductions. Abono holders enter municipal pools free (including San Amaro's) and get a 30% discount when booking padel at San Amaro and Esther San Miguel, plus discounts on squash, tennis, and municipal sports schools. Abono Plus, an optional top-up from age 16, unlocks the municipal gyms, including San Amaro's. Apply at sports offices, municipal pools, the registro, or the electronic sede, then sign up on Deportes On Line to reserve online.

The two indoor padel courts with concrete walls should be replaced as they are outdated. The two outdoor glass padel courts should have benches and seating installed, replacing the metal benches from Caja Círculo. In addition, the carpets should be maintained daily, and the glass should be cleaned, removing the spiders and cobwebs in the corners.
I don't know the details well, but we were invited to play paddle tennis and it turned out to be a very busy and well-maintained place... Four or five paddle tennis courts, an athletics track, and a large pool... An excellent place to play sports in Burgos.
A track very close to the wall, with stands also at the foot of the track, not very comfortable. But very warm changing rooms and good showers, highlighting the adaptation for people with reduced mobility or those who move in a wheelchair, the changing room is very well adapted for that. A little damaged by time but in good condition for use.
Gym with updated weight machines and a pleasant atmosphere, ideal for morning workouts.
They care very little about the well-being of the gym's customers. I don't know how there haven't been any scares with the heat. They sell some fantastic fans that screw onto the wall for three pesetas.
