Pistas de Padel in Cartes are municipal padel courts run by the Ayuntamiento de Cartes, set in Parque del Ansar alongside the Besaya valley sports zone. The site sits near the river, the football pitch and outdoor calisthenics equipment, so you can warm up or stretch before a match without leaving the park. Two courts were upgraded with a protective roof so play can continue through Cantabria's wet winters; the cover was inaugurated in 2020 after a renovation that drew regional praise for keeping a popular facility in use year-round. Courts are booked in advance through the town hall's online padel rental service, with published rules for hire and a flat municipal rate of 9 euros per hour per court. Padel also forms part of Cartes' Escuelas Deportivas Municipales, one of ten sports on offer for local children, with annual school fees kept low so families across the municipality can take part. The padel school has grown steadily and benefits from the covered courts as demand has risen across the Besaya area.
Facilities
Court hire is open to residents and visitors who book through the municipal online system; no private club membership is required. Escuela Deportiva Municipal padel places are aimed at children and young people in Cartes, enrolled through edmcartes.es alongside football, basketball, volleyball, judo, dance and other base sports. The sports-school fee is 40 euros per year, set deliberately low so cost is rarely a barrier. Adult players typically pay the hourly court rate when reserving a slot. Groups, schools and clubs may need to follow the published rental rules on the council website. For sport-service questions, the municipal deportes contact is deportes@aytocartes.org.

It's a shame how much it costs for the state of the slopes. You go to hit the ball and it goes the other way. It should be free or cheaper for registered residents. You need to get your act together and fix those slopes.
Decent outdoor padel courts located next to the river, the soccer field, and the calisthenics bars. They may need some maintenance, but they do their job. Booking times are required. Padel classes are also offered.
They are concrete courts with the old measurements, they have an inner rim of the wall that can cause the ball to hit it and it is a bit uncomfortable to play on.
My friends are going, and they say it's really cool. I might join them too.
Does anyone know the rental price?
