Planet Padel is an indoor padel venue at the Diskin Centre on Grace Road in Athlone, County Westmeath (N37 R7Y4). It is part of Planet Leisure and markets itself as Athlone's local place to try the sport without travelling to larger cities. Three indoor courts sit inside a self-serve style facility: book online, turn up, play, with racket access via hire or a vending setup. Hours are 10am to 10pm every day. The pitch is social and beginner-friendly rather than high-performance club culture, with music on court noted positively in reviews. Pricing draws some criticism relative to the unstaffed model, but players who like the courts and easy booking still rate the setup highly for the Midlands.
Facilities
Court hire is pay-and-play. Off-peak (Monday to Friday 10:00-16:00) is €40 per hour; peak (weekday evenings and all weekend) is €48 per hour. Booking is through PlayByPoint / Playtomic-style apps; the website booking widget has at times directed players to PlayByPoint during maintenance. Coaching includes summer Sunday clinics every second week with 1-hour slots, plus private group clinics for groups of four at €20 per person with rackets and balls provided. Tournaments such as men's intermediate and mixed doubles events have been run via the app with team entry fees. Newsletter and Instagram are used for offers and event updates. great courts and it’s nice to have access to the rackets/balls! but it’s way to expensive for what it is $40 for 1 hour for two people? i pay that much for my monthly gym membership. i would love to go more often but the expense is too much especially considering there is no staff??
Brilliant system and set up. Very easy arrange a game and the courts and music setup are brilliant. The only negative is the vending machine that distributes rackets is full of broken padels that need replacing the last few weeks and nothing is being done about it. A few of my friends have been caught by this.
