Castle Padel Club is a new padel venue at Sandal Rugby Union Football Club on Standbridge Lane, Wakefield (WF2 7DY), just off the A636 and roughly ten minutes from M1 Junction 39. It is aimed at Wakefield, Sandal Magna and south Leeds players who want outdoor panoramic courts rather than a warehouse indoor club. Planning permission for four courts on former overflow parking next to the rugby clubhouse was granted by Wakefield Council, with the RFU noting the land was not active rugby pitch space. The club’s own site and Playtomic listing still carry an “opening soon / June–summer 2026” message, and live Playtomic grids have shown no bookable slots even while Google lists the place as operational with set hours — so treat launch status as in flux and check Instagram @castle.padel or the mailing list before you travel. Once live, the pitch is community padel: coaching, leagues, socials and corporate hire on top of pay-and-play.
Facilities
Pay-and-play via Playtomic is the core model once bookings open; you do not need a membership just to hire a court. A CASTLE CLUB founding membership appears on Playtomic at £150 per year: 20% off your personal share of court bookings, 14-day advance booking, members-only events and member gifts/incentives, with cancellation typically up to 48 hours before. The listing notes the club was set to open summer 2026 and points people to @castle.padel for updates. Peak and off-peak court prices are shown live on Playtomic when slots unlock.
