Membership & Pricing
Waterford’s first dedicated padel venue sits at the Woodlands Hotel & Leisure Centre on the Dunmore Road in Ballynakill. The hotel opened multiple outdoor courts specifically for padel, giving the southeast its earliest regular place to book a game when the sport was still new to Ireland. Courts share the grounds with a full hotel leisure complex, so a session can sit alongside a gym workout, swim, or meal rather than being an isolated sports-hall visit. Play suits mixed standards: beginners pick up the smaller court and glass-wall game quickly, while regulars use social groups, coaching slots, and an organised annual tournament. Pay-and-play bookings run through the Glofox app (listed as GlowFox in some player reports), with racket hire and balls available on site. For visitors staying at the hotel or locals looking for Waterford city’s original padel hub, this remains a practical all-in-one option.
Facilities
Courts are available on a pay-and-play basis without requiring hotel residency. Book via the Glofox app or through the leisure centre reception. Typical court hire has been listed around €25 for 60 minutes and €38 for 90 minutes, with racket hire about €2.50 and tubes of balls available to purchase. Woodlands Health & Leisure Club membership covers the gym, pool, studio classes, and related wellness facilities; enquire at the leisure desk for current membership packages and whether padel court rates differ for members. Social WhatsApp groups (including women’s social sessions) help players find matches and hear about leagues, tournaments, and beginner coaching — join by contacting the leisure centre. An annual tournament is run on site for competitive players.

GlowFox app worked well for booking though not sure the barcode does anything as there are no scanners on doors, €25 for hour but we were able to stay on after. 2of us had to hire padels which was not too expensive. The court surface is excellent grippy. There were classes going on 1 court, the ones with “waitlist” on the booking app. Will be back again. The side entrances on the courts are open so you can even play the round-the-net post shots you see on YouTube ;)
Good courts with higher netting on some. Rental rackets are high end for rentals and were in good condition on my last visit. Very good facilities (changing, showers, pool, gym and restaurant) also on site. Does not allow any amendment to bookings, which is out of line with the industry. Not on Playtomic or a similar app but they do have a WhatsApp group to find matches. Whilst initially quiet, the WhatsApp group has become much more active. Balls and rackets are available to buy. There is also an annual tournament which is very well organised. If they implemented a better booking system, I would give 5 stars.
Excellent team, app, courts, parking, etc. Congratulations!! You'll need to build more courts soon; it's a sport with a bright present and a very promising future in Ireland!! Keep it up! 👏👏
