Campo do Rosmaninho is a country hotel and restaurant on the Quinta da Bigorna estate in Escalos de Baixo, Castelo Branco, that also brought the first padel court to the district when it opened. The padel offering sits inside a wider rural retreat: four-star rooms with mountain views, seasonal outdoor pool, fitness centre, garden terraces and event spaces for weddings and family gatherings on the EN240. Players book through Playtomic, where the club has built a loyal local community since launch— the site claims 80–90% of first-timers come back. Court hire runs around €24 per 90-minute slot in daytime bands and €28 in late evening, with racket rental from €1 per racket. Hotel guests and day visitors share the bar, changing rooms and parking, so padel here feels tied to a countryside stay rather than a city indoor centre.
Facilities
Book the padel court on Playtomic (Campo do Rosmaninho). Typical hire around €24 per slot daytime, €28 for 21:00–23:00 slots per the club booking page. Racket hire €1–4 depending on quantity. Join the club community via links on campodorosmaninho.pt/pt/padel. Phone +351 272 467 345. Email geral@campodorosmaninho.pt. Hotel stays bookable separately for guests combining padel with a rural break in central Portugal.

Whilst the rooms are decent, this really is a far cry from a 4-star hotel. The property is very poorly kept and there is very little service with even the reception only open for a few hours per day and impossible to reach outside these hours despite being told you can just call. One of our rooms had a very pungent smell and when we reported it they admitted they knew the room had problems. The individual was sure it was from the sewage however it smelled more like cockroaches (although I did not see any). They said they would send someone to deal with it but they just sprayed a bit of room freshener which of course did not work. The breakfast is extremely limited in options and the space was freezing cold and uninviting. During the short breakfast time they had the cleaning lady mopping floors which added to the charm. The rooms are clean and new with comfortable beds however the insulation of the room is shocking leading to needing to have the aircon blasting all night to keep it warm whilst condensation built up in the entire room. The exterior area is completely neglected and you pass by the hotel washing lines where they dry towels etc in order to get to your room. Definitely not a place for a holiday.
We’ve been coming here every summer for the past four years — it was our little escape, a tradition that felt as familiar as sunscreen and long sunsets. But this year, something was different. The place we once loved has changed. A few months ago, new owners took over. And while the service is still kind and attentive, so many of the little things — the things that made it feel like ours — are just… gone. The menu, once full of variety and surprises, is now just a single page that never changes. No fresh fish, no salads — the magic of unexpected flavors is missing. When we used to arrive, there would be warm cookies and a handwritten note waiting for us. It was small, but it made us feel like someone had been expecting us. That feeling is gone now too. The cabanas by the pool — the ones we spent lazy afternoons under, reading and hiding from the sun — have vanished. And the whole place feels quieter somehow. Not in a peaceful way, but in a way that makes you wonder if everyone else noticed the changes too. We’re grateful for the memories, but it just doesn’t feel the same anymore. Next summer, we’ll be looking for a new spot — somewhere that still holds on to the little things that make a place unforgettable.
We spent one night here. A very nice and big room, good breakfast and excellent staff. Easy parking. Would like to come back in the summer to enjoy the huge pool.
We’ve spent a fabulous weekend at Campo do Rosmaninho. The staff is welcoming and always ready to help. The rooms are very spacious, good design and we also got a little treat on our arrival. There’s plenty to do. We have used the bikes available at the hotel to get to know the surroundings and found the padel courts a great plus on their facilities. This is definitely a place to relax. Their restaurant is also very pleasing and warm. The food (both from dinner and breakfast) is very good, offering variety and quality.
We were very welcome. It is a perfect place for families with several entertainment areas. The rooms have a good size and are very well equiped, including a few treats. We definatelly recommend Campo do Rosmaninho to all guests.
