Membership & Pricing

Risbygate Sports Club on Westley Road in Bury St Edmunds is a multi-sport community club that added Suffolk's first permanent padel courts in September 2023. Two floodlit outdoor all-weather courts sit alongside tennis, squash, indoor and outdoor bowls, pétanque and a pavilion with café and bar. Padel here feels club-social rather than big-box leisure: Americano sessions are popular with friendly competitive players, and reviews call out clean facilities and a good atmosphere. The club opened daily 8:30am–10pm and welcomes both members and public pay-and-play for padel.

Facilities

Padel membership is £130/year (2026/7) with court hire still charged on top; Racket Sports Full is £250/year. Court hire is £20 for members or £40 for non-members per 90 minutes. Americanos are £5 members / £10 non-members. Membership year for racket sports runs 1 April–31 March with pro-rata join mid-year. Public access without full membership is available for padel court hire and socials. Join via membership form or email admin@risbygatesportsclub.co.uk.

I play bowls competitively several times a week, outdoors in the summer and indoors during the winter months. New members welcome, coaching and equipment available.

I wanted to learn to play tennis as something fun to do outside of work, I was always into sports growing up and wanted to revisit those times. Before being able to join I had to go through some learning sessions with one of the coaches, he was great. Then I had a session with a female coach their and she felt the need to tell me I was only there to meet a man, then she proceeded to tell me it was mainly married/family men that attended the tennis club. I felt this was a really strange thing to say, considering I had never met this woman before I am still unsure at to where this came from and why she felt the need to be so judgemental and rude. Needless to say I didn't come back.

I visited Risbygate Sports Club and had a fantastic time playing paddleboard. The people there were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They made me feel right at home and created a warm and inviting atmosphere. I highly recommend Risbygate Sports Club to anyone looking for a friendly and fun place to play games and meet people withing the Bury st. Edmunds community.
