Ely Padel Club brought the first public padel courts to East Cambridgeshire, sitting within the Ely Outdoor Sports Association grounds on Downham Road. The club keeps things straightforward: two outdoor courts, open to members and non-members on a pay-to-play basis, with booking handled through the PadelMates app. Beginners and regulars both use the same venue, so you can turn up for a first hit or chase a competitive game without needing a private club setup. Beyond court hire, the calendar includes group coaching, social sessions, Americano tournaments and junior activity in the holidays. Access is via a gate code sent after booking, and a small on-site kit store means you can hire rackets and balls if you are not carrying your own. It is a practical local hub for padel in Ely rather than a destination resort — community-led, EOSA-based, and built around getting people on court.
Facilities
Membership is optional — anyone can book a court — but members get clear day-to-day savings. Annual membership is £120 for 12 months via PadelMates (non-cancellable). Benefits include around 40% off individual court hire, 40% off joining Americano tournaments, 20% off coaching sessions, a 14-day booking window instead of seven for non-members, and entry to box league matches. Joining also makes you a member of Ely Outdoor Sports Association. Sign up in the PadelMates app under Ely Padel Club. When splitting payment, each member on the booking pays the member rate; non-members pay the non-member price. Paying for a whole court as a member applies your personal discount only to your share.
