Poppleton Lawn Tennis Club sits in Upper Poppleton, a village on York's western fringe, and its outdoor padel court has become a practical option for players who want padel without trekking into the city. The court sits behind the hard courts at the Poppleton Centre, floodlit and open to the public as well as club members. This remains a community rackets club first: six tennis courts on hard and artificial clay, pickleball lines on court 6, and now one dedicated padel court. Landscaping and a pétanque area are still being finished around the padel pad, but the court itself is open and bookable. Group clinics and one-to-one sessions run through the Poppleton LTC Academy on Playtomic, so newcomers can learn the basics without owning a racket.
Facilities
A combined rackets membership covers tennis and padel for the April–March season. On padel, members get about 25% off off-peak court fees and 20% off peak rates, plus a 14-day advance booking window on Playtomic. Non-members book at full price with a seven-day window. Use the same email on Clubspark and Playtomic so member discounts apply automatically. Adult full membership for 2026/27 is £185, with weekday, family, junior, student and chaperone packages from around £45. Group and private padel coaching through the Academy is cheaper for members. Guests can still book the padel court without joining; tennis guests pay a small fee when invited by a member.

Great club and location. Floodlit tennis on well maintained hard and artificial clay. New floodlit Padel Court too. Well worth a visit.
