Membership & Pricing
Torquay Lawn Tennis Club is a historic LTA registered venue just off Torquay seafront in Devon, hosting the long-running Torbay Open and one of the South West's stronger tennis communities. The grounds combine nine outdoor tennis courts, three indoor tennis courts, two mini courts, pickleball, a hitting wall, and three panoramic outdoor padel courts—among the first padel installations in the county. Hugo's Food Shack in the clubhouse handles catering, and the club welcomes members and pay-and-play visitors. Padel is promoted as an easy social sport with beginner and intermediate mix-in sessions through the week. The club also runs a Batz racket membership tier that bundles pickleball, table tennis, and discounted padel rates.
Facilities
Standard padel hire on the padel page is twenty pounds per hour for members and thirty pounds for non-members, bookable on Playtomic or by calling reception on 01803 209500. The separate Batz membership advertises lower padel rates at sixteen pounds per hour for members and twenty-four for non-members, and includes outdoor pickleball and table tennis. Join by emailing rackets manager Steve Maslen at steve.maslen@torquaytennisclub.co.uk—you are guided through free LTA registration and Clubspark for tennis bookings. Tennis pay-and-play is also available to visitors. Members receive fifteen percent off food and drink with Batz.

Nice club but like most tennis clubs it's just too expensive for most people.. Shame as I'm sure we would have a lot more players with ability in the UK if they could lower the price... However if you can afford it then the facilities are excellent.
Travelled 25 minutes to play in an evening social, to find they had double booked all the padel courts, even though we all booked through playtomic. So far no refund given either.
Torquay Tennis Club — what a gem (if your idea of a “club” includes surprise expulsions, curt emails, and a leadership that seems to fancy itself an all-powerful tribunal). Where else can you show up for a friendly hit and discover your pal has been summarily expelled (no warning, of course)? Or better yet, receive a sternly worded email from the Committee reprimanding other members for daring to ask a question or — horrors! — suggest transparency. Sure, the courts are fine (if you don’t mind the tension), and the social side is okay (provided you don’t mind hiding behind polite conversation so as not to attract unwanted scrutiny). But the real feature is the delightful unpredictability: will you be the next surprise recipient of a notice? Will the Committee issue another sweeping directive without consultation? Will they re-draft the club Articles to tighten control (and apparently grant themselves extra powers)? (Yes, yes, and yes.) If your definition of “great club” is partly “a place where governance is opaque, criticism is punished, and membership is a little like walking a tightrope” — then, congratulations, you’ve found your perfect match. Otherwise: steer clear, or at least carry a lawyer and a low profile. For more information of what has gone on just this year - follow or friend 'Torquay Tennis' on Facebook or search Incompetennis. Torquay Tennis Club is the perfect venue for a private party. The staff could not do enough to help with my dad's 70th surprise party. I was able to set up for the party in the day and store food items in the kitchen. They offer free parking, reasonably priced drinks, clean modern facilities, and service with a smile. Thank you for being such great hosts!
Lovely friendly club, extremely welcoming to guests. Great hospitality and good courts, although the lines could do with a refresh
