Play Padel Sheffield is South Yorkshire's first indoor padel club, based at Abbeydale Tennis Club on Abbeydale Road South. Part of Play Padel Group, it brought year-round padel to Sheffield with four indoor panoramic courts under one roof, so you are not chasing weather forecasts before you book. The setup mixes three doubles courts and one singles court, with lighting suited to early starts and late evening sessions. Players come from across south Sheffield and nearby areas such as Dore, Totley, Ecclesall and Millhouses. Beyond match play, the club runs coaching for beginners through to intermediates, junior sessions, social nights and leagues. Co-ownership links include England cricketer Joe Root and other local sporting figures, which helps explain the busy community feel regulars talk about.
Facilities
You do not need a membership to play. Courts are booked through the Playtomic app by searching for Play Padel Sheffield, with typical hire around £40 per hour depending on the slot. Casual players can turn up for open social sessions, coaching classes and events such as early Coffee & Padel clubs or evening socials like Padel & Prosecco. For regulars, PadelPlus+ costs £10 a month and extends the booking window from 14 days to 21, with 20% off your share of court fees. Members can hold up to three bookings a day and up to 21 active bookings, and cancel up to 48 hours ahead. There is also a club wallet top-up option on Playtomic if you prefer prepaid credit. Coaching covers beginners, intermediates and juniors, with named coaches running group and age-banded sessions through the same app.

I suppose I visit Padel Sheffield 5 or 6 times every week. I work at Abbeydale Tennis Club , so I only need to go downstairs , but the welcome is always the same . All the staff are extremely professional, kind and very friendly. I feel I m treated the same professional way as any member of. The atmosphere is good and welcoming., a lovely place to be.
A fantastic addition to sporting facilities in Sheffield. Wonderful staff and a bright airy venue.

I had the pleasure of playing over 200 matches at Play Padel Sheffield during the year I lived in Sheffield, and I can honestly say it became much more than just a place to play padel. The sense of community is one of the best I've experienced. From complete beginners to advanced players, everyone is made to feel welcome, and it's easy to find great games and meet fantastic people. The staff deserve special recognition. They are always friendly, approachable, professional, and genuinely passionate about making every visit a great experience. They consistently go above and beyond to help players, organize events, and create an atmosphere that keeps you coming back. What also stands out is that the club never stops improving. They continue investing in the facilities, and the recently installed ventilation system has made an already excellent venue even better. It's great to see a club that actively listens to its members and keeps evolving. I'm incredibly grateful for the memories, friendships, and matches I had there. If you're looking for a padel club with outstanding staff, an amazing community, and a commitment to constant improvement, I couldn't recommend Play Padel Sheffield more highly.
Fantastic venue to meet people, play Padel and generally have a great time . All the staff are so polite, helpful and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Love it!!!
