Padel Shed Thirsk is a dedicated indoor padel venue in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, created by the Sowerby farming family after converting a former potato shed on the Sowerby Gateway development. Marketed as the town’s first purpose-built padel offering, it sits within a converted barn-style farm building at Cocked Hat Farm and is run under Thorpefields Properties Ltd. The club’s own pitch is simple and welcoming: brand-new indoor courts for all levels, casual hire, coaching ambitions, and social play aimed at putting Thirsk on the regional padel map. Tony Sowerby has described the project as rural diversification — adapting traditional farming space for a fast-growing racket sport while giving locals a leisure destination on their doorstep. Official channels (padelshedthirsk.co.uk, Instagram @padelshedthirsk, and the Facebook page) confirm the venue is open and bookable, with a clear doubles-and-singles setup rather than a large multi-court complex. For players across North Yorkshire looking for a compact, weather-proof padel shed rather than a tennis-club add-on, this is the dedicated Thirsk option.

Facilities

Court hire is pay-and-play through Playtomic rather than a members-only gate: the club website points straight to “Book via Playtomic” and contact pages stress online reservation that is quick and available around the clock. Typical published hire rates sit around £24–£35 per hour depending on peak or off-peak demand, covering the indoor doubles or singles court you select. There is no separate membership portal or priced membership package advertised on padelshedthirsk.co.uk; casual players book a slot, turn up, and use the provided rackets and balls if needed. Alongside private hire, Playtomic lists public academy activities such as Padel Social sessions (often around an hour, with published seat counts and prices from roughly £7–£10 depending on the listing), which is the main structured way to meet other players without organising a full four yourself. For day-to-day bookings, search “Padel Shed Thirsk” in the Playtomic app or follow the Book a Court link from the club site — that is the official reservation path the operator promotes.

Best padel facility I've ever been to! I've played in a few different places now and this is by far the best. Finished amazingly, games, snacks and a nice setting to wait. 10/10
